Often, necessity becomes the spark for creativity. After marrying and moving to New York City in the early 2000s,  I teamed up with my husband Jay, a talented jewelry designer. Faced with the challenge of being unable to travel for nine months due to my green card application,  our Artisans in India were at risk of losing work.Garment design is a meticulous business, and trying to manage it from 7,700 miles away wasn’t practical. Every seam and detail needed attention, and a simple message relay was just not cutting it.In response, we began creating beaded accessories at home in New York City, which we then sent to India for our Artisans to reproduce. Despite my primary expertise in garment design, we found a way to integrate the Artisan’s skills with our new creative direction.This necessity-driven project marked our first venture into accessory design, resulting in an embellished hand-embroidered collection. As we navigated this unforeseen collaboration, we discovered a shared passion for design. This pursuit not only sustained our professional lives, but also became a significant part of our shared journey.Our creative efforts led to trunk shows in various New York City stores, culminating in a breakthrough at Henri Bendel, a prominent retail destination for artistic creations. We seized this opportunity, engaging directly with consumers. Our journey began with belts and gradually expanded into a variety of accessories, evolving from hair accessories to bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and clutches.
